Mayweather vs McGregor Fight – Las Vegas, Nevada

Since the first millisecond after Conor McGregor tweeted, “THE FIGHT IS ON”, it has been the talk of the town. People who don’t know about boxing know about the super-fight, and all eyes will be on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) vs. Conor McGregor (21-3) Super-Welterweight (154 lbs.) match up on August 26th at the 20,000 capacity T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. With millions of people paying attention and months of controversy abuzz about the fight, some are asking:

  • Even with his two weight World Champion titles, what is an MMA fighter thinking going into the ring with Money, a 5-title undefeated pro boxer?
  • Will it be a blow out or does McGregor actually have a “fighting” chance?
  • What are the odds at the Vegas sports books? Will they use 10 oz. gloves, standard for their weight class, or the 8 oz. gloves requested by both fighters?

Since their press tour started earlier this summer, who will win the bulk of the estimated $390 million purse and how it happens will be a major conversation piece around water coolers, dinner tables, and cocktail parties for a long time to come.

The undercards are worthy of mention as well. Two-time Light-Heavyweight Champion Welshman Nathan Cleverly will defend his world lightweight title against Sweden’s Badou Johannes Gabriel Jack (known as “Badou Jack”). Badou Jack was the former WBC Super- Middleweight Champion until he gave up his title in January 2017 to move up to Light-Heavyweight. The winner of this matchup will go immediately into negotiations to fight Dmitry Bivol, the WBA undefeated interim champion. Another great undercard is undefeated American Gervonta Davis who will defend his Super-Featherweight Championship against Costa Rica’s Francisco Fonseca.
