Best Places to Celebrate the 4th of July

This year, July 4th will mark the 240th anniversary of the day the thirteen original United States colonies declared independence from Britain. Flying private to celebrate the extended holiday weekend will allow you the opportunity to explore some of the most historical and patriotic cities in America on your own time, comfortably, and in style. STAjets has selected the best destinations in the US to celebrate Independence Day this year.

Boston, Massachusetts

Where better to celebrate our nation’s independence than in a historical city like Boston? For the long weekend, the city will be holding the 35th annual celebration of Boston’s harbor and history. From July 1st to the 4th there will be a number of events for people to take part in. All culminating to a fireworks show that can be viewed from multiple locations across the city. Worried about having a good view? Book a dinner cruise of Boston Harbor. In addition to dinner, you’ll get a close up view of the historic ships in the harbor and the fireworks show.

New York City, New York

New York is home to the largest fireworks display in the United States. The city hosts a number of events in addition to their fireworks show including river cruises, walking tours, concerts, and an international hot dog eating contest. Catching a glimpse of the fireworks on the West Side of the city may seem easy, but most travel sights suggest securing your spot in advance. VIP tickets can be purchased that will allow you to enjoy an uninterrupted view of the show from the NYC’s famous rooftops.

 San Francisco, California

Fourth of July may be on a Monday this year, but San Francisco isn’t letting that get in the way of their celebration. There will be wine tours, free walking tours, and activities on Pier 39 such as live music and family friendly activities like ferry rides around the bay. Night time will bring a large fireworks show with two sets of displays allowing everyone a glimpse for all around the San Francisco area. Trying to avoid the crowds? Consider watching the fireworks from the water with a dinner cruise or in the penthouse of your favorite San Francisco hotel.

Washington D.C.

You can’t go wrong celebrating the Fourth of July in our nation’s capital. Start your day at the National Archives. Let the words of the Declaration of Independence start your celebration. Throughout the day there will be parades, free concerts at the Capitol, and events at museums across town. Up for an adventure? Head thirty minutes out of town to George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate. After taking a tour of the founding father’s home you’ll be able to enjoy a special daytime fireworks show. Then head back to the city and enjoy dinner riverside in Georgetown. Enjoy a great meal and access to one of the best viewing spots for the nighttime fireworks show.

Miami, Florida

If you’re vision for the Fourth of July weekend is more about the party than the historical celebration, look no further than Miami. All across Miami there will be concerts, food trucks, parades and celebration. Whether you want to celebrate at the beach, the speedway, the park, or downtown, Miami has it. After a long day of celebration, the party continues into the night with multiple fireworks shows over the water. Looking for something a little more exclusive? There are several packages available for purchase online for club events, yacht parties and food tours. However, you choose to celebrate, Miami is the place to be.

Austin, Texas

Austin is a city that loves to have a good time. This year’s Fourth of July will not be an exception. Celebration will begin as early at 9 am in some parts of the city, carrying on until 11 pm.  There will be two major fireworks and Independence Day celebrations to participate in: one showcasing the Austin Symphony with a concert and fireworks display and another featuring shopping, music, barbecue and fireworks. Throughout the month of July, Austin will also be having a “restaurant round-up,” celebrating the cuisine of the Lone Star State.

Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore, much like other major US cities, has coordinated a city wide celebration for the Fourth of July this year. Live music and family activities will take place all day long. The World Observation Level will be open with 360-degree views of Baltimore. This is no doubt the best spot in town for viewing the fireworks show, which will be coordinated to music, over the inner harbor. Local dinning places and shops will be open for everyone to enjoy.  In addition, there will be a number of dinner cruises available to reserve that will take you up close to the historical ships on Chesapeake Bay.
