Concours d’Elegance of America

Whimsical, long-nosed classics from the 1920’s, the big-engine American muscle cars, and the sleek lines of European exotics will reconvene again at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan from July 28-30, 2017. If you are a car enthusiast, the 39th annual Concours d’Elegance of America is for you.

With over 300 vehicles on display, from multi-million dollar rare classics to modern collectibles, the event planners estimate 14,000 people from around the globe will enter the event over the 3-day celebration of all things automotive.

On Friday, there is the RM Sotheby’s Auction Preview, and invite-only Cars, Cocktails, and Art Reception by Sotheby’s, and other exhibitions and events, including Motor City Mingle, a fundraiser event for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). A cocktail reception, elegant surf and turf dinner, and open bar will be enjoyed under the RM Sotheby’s tent along with live entertainment by Mitch Ryder, who has been recently inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame, and the Detroit Wheels.

Saturday begins with Cars and Coffee, where car enthusiasts and owners of autos from all eras and all brands come together and “talk shop”. On the other side if the spectrum, the Concours d’LeMons also starts Saturday morning. This is where the worst of the worst and the best of the worst cars come together to celebrate their eccentricities, unattractiveness, and humor (you may see hot dogs roasted in the flame of the exhaust of a hodgepodge of varying hunks of metal melded together in a feeble attempt to resemble a civilized vehicle) Saturday also includes seminars, an art invitational, Sotheby’s auction, and the Tip Your Hat Luncheon, a fundraiser to benefit Project Beautiful – Inside and Out. Dine in the French Quarter inspired Atrium at the Inn at St. John’s with renowned women leaders in the automotive industry and fashion by some of Michigan’s talented local designers.

Sunday starts with the 26th International Automotive Media Competition by Brembo at 8:30am. At 10:00am the Concours d’Elegance of America begins and awards ceremony at 1:30pm. Festivities conclude in the evening with Afterglow, an invitation only event by Kelly Services.
