Three Ski Resorts You Need To Visit This Snow Season

From early December to deep into spring, snow bunnies and expert skiers alike hear the call of the mountains. Are you planning your seasonal getaways to the slopes? Here are three of the top ski resorts you cannot miss this season.

Telluride, Colorado

What was once a silver mining camp along the San Miguel River in the southwestern area of Colorado, Telluride started out as one of the best-kept secrets amongst die-hard skiers in the 1980’s. Now, it is a premier ski resort town with high-speed quad chairs amongst magnificent views and old western charm. Quintin Taratino’s Oscar-winning movie, The Hateful Eight starring Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell, was filmed at this all-season resort.

Skiers and snowboarders alike come from all over the world to this Conde Nast Best Ski Resort award winner. Runs are equally balanced amongst expert, intermediate, and beginner slopes, with an average snowfall of 300 feet, From tree-lined expert runs to wide, 2-mile long beginner runs, Telluride has something for everyone. Ticket prices start at $82.00 for a half day, $99 for a full day, and multi-day packages are also available. Children 5 and under ski free, and Telluride offer’s a discount for kids ages 6-12 with multiple day packages purchased two days in advance.

On a side note, winter fly fishing at the San Miguel River is a great option on days you don’t feel like hitting the slopes. Late February through April offers the best fishing and various companies in Telluride will offer their services for guides, private fishing spots, and equipment.

Aspen, Colorado

Aspen is another Colorado town that was formerly a silver mining camp and has turned into a luxurious, internationally renown ski resort. From the Aspen X Games, and winter polo, to world class restaurants such as The Wild Fig, there is something for everyone in Aspen.

Aspen caters to families with young children as well. With a kids’ program that includes ski time and playtime, as well as childcare for the little ones ages 8 weeks to 4 years old, your kids will have a blast at the Kids Treehouse Adventure Center at Snowmass and/or The Hideout at Buttermilk.

Full day lift ticket prices run from $82.00-$135 (children under 7 are free) and half-day tickets are available as well.  With four different mountains to choose from (Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk), you can never run out of trails to explore and dominate in Aspen.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

There is a lot to do in the winter and springtime in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Aside from skiing and snowboarding the stunning white terrain, opt to take your slope time to the extreme with heli-skiing or sit back and take a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge. Snowmobile rentals, tubing, and ice skating on an outdoor rink at the town square are fun activities off the slopes for all ages.

Ticket prices vary, but their online pricing is the best deal. Half day, junior tickets and lessons are also available. They also have the Golden Ticket Promotion this season, where you can get 40% off your Jackson Hole daily rate lift ticket if you have a season pass at another resort worldwide.
