STA Jets also has earned an IS-BAO Stage 2 Certification, demonstrating its’ ongoing commitment to the Safety Management System (SMS).

IS-BAO is a comprehensive code of best practices designed to help flight departments worldwide achieve a high level of safety and professionalism. It provides baseline requirements for structuring flight departments and planning and conducting their operations. It challenges flight departments to review their current systems, programs and procedures, recognize strengths and weaknesses in those procedures, and continually pursue higher standards.

Overall, IS-BAO covers: SMS requirements, organization and personnel, standard operating procedures, training programs, flight operations, operations in international airspace, aircraft equipment requirements, aircraft maintenance requirements, company operations manual, emergency response plan, environmental management, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and security. Stage 1confirms that the SMS infrastructure is established and that safety management activities are appropriately targeted. All supporting standards have been established. Stage 2 Certification is granted to operators who’s SMS is functioning with the results being actively measured.

Only operators who have successfully passed a Wingman audit and are in good standing with Wyvern, are Wingman Certified and may call themselves a Wingman Operator. These operators will provide their customers with PASS trip due-diligence reports run against The Wingman Standard, the most difficult audit standard to remain current with. The Wingman Standard requires pilot and maintenance personnel training and experience that far exceeds regulatory minimums.
